Writing for Change

I have used words to change the world. Or in many cases, have used words to prevent the world from changing.

I work in a role where, if I am successful, an ecosystem that has survived in place for tens of millions of years, gets a chance to hang on for another million or so more. If I win, the only change is evolution, not destruction.

To achieve that success, my writing needs to weave a thread through being interesting, credible, focussed, bold, risk taking, strategic and insightful. I can achieve all of those things and have many times with great effect. And the ADHD helps with all of that. But where the ADHD doesn’t help is all the times I couldn’t get the words onto the page and the page out into the world.

In this talk, I will address how my ADHD has helped and hindered my advocacy. And how ADHD can give you unique pathways to writing for change. At least when you can get the words onto the page, that is.
